Pink Bench

I have arrived back to reality and was welcomed back to work with lots and lots to do.  I'm definitely fine with that because if I stay busy, there is no time to let the whirlwind weekend catch up with me!  I had a wonderful time in New York, as you may expect, and am looking forward to vegging out on the couch tonight and going through all the pictures.  We made it to Coney Island on Sunday and it was exactly how it is supposed to be: bright colors, dirty rides, and amused children.  Isn't this pink bench adorable?  I'll put up some more updates later in the week.  For now, it's back to work I go.  Happy Tuesday everyone!

--> NYC

It has been way too long since I have been to New York, but today all that changes because I will be there in approximately twelve hours!  I am so thrilled to be visiting my bestest friend in the world.  And even better is that we don't have any major plans or obligations.  We just get to sip lattes, walk the streets, browse the shops, and talk our heads off to make up for the fact that we are in a long-distance relationship with each other.  We may check out the Brooklyn Flea, enjoy a dessert up on a rooftop, and maybe squeeze in a trip to Coney Island.  She's the best.  New York is the best.  This weekend will be the best.

Buhberry (because when I say it in my fake English accent, the first "R" doesn't exist)

Does Burberry ever fail?  I was just clicking around on their website and was so excited when I held my mouse over a photo and the model started moving!  Have you seen this before?  It's not happening all over their website, but if you use the link I put up there, you can see for yourself.  Here are some of the pretty things I saw on there.

Check Lined Walker

I had a few more picked out, but the image quality isn't so great.  It all looks better on their website anyway.  Most importantly, I am waiting patiently for it to be Fall enough for me to get my Burberry Brit back out.  And I'm also daydreaming that I live in London.  And listening to Muse to feel closer to England.  And holding my mouse over the models to make them move.  Cheerio.

monday

I fear that weekends will never be long enough, but some Mondays are more difficult than others.  I woke up with a stiff neck and keep trying to stretch it out, but the pain will not go away.  (Grrr.)  It seems that I am not the only one at work that is less-than-excited to be here today.  According to Twitter, one co-worker has a "case of the Mondays" and another thinks that "Mondays are for the birds."  For me, I simply didn't have enough time in two measly days to do everything I wanted and get a little R&R.  Between a baseball game and a birthday party, laundry and dishes, drinks and great eats, my mind is made up that I am in no condition to be at work today.

...But then I feel guilty for complaining because I know there are those that would love to have my job, or any job for that matter.  So I will suck it up, quit complaining, and accept the fact that I shouldn't move my neck up, down, or to either side.  Alas, it's Monday.

And then we got a dog.

He sits.

He lays.

He listens.

He plays.

He shakes.

He jumps!

He's pretty cool.

Oh Joy, it's Friday!

I am so relieved to have made it to Friday.  Despite the four-day workweek, the last few days have just dragged and dragged and dragged and dragged.  And even more exciting is that my sissy is coming in town from SF tonight!  And even more exciting is that my mom doesn't know!  Surprises are so great, especially when the surprisee is our sweet sweet mom!  Happy Friday, indeed.

Rowdy Kittens

Lately I have become quite intrigued with simple, minimalist ways of living.  I love some of my stuff way too much to ever be a true minimalist, but I find certain aspects of it appealing.  This site, Rowdy Kittens, is interesting and inspirational.  Surviving without a car sounds idyllic to me and who doesn't love to declutter?  Vagabonding?  Practicing relaxation as an art?  I am all about that.

From the site:

Calling All Recipes!

Although I have to be one who considers cooking a hobby, I am starting to enjoy it more than I have in the past.  That doesn't mean a whole lot since regular cooking for me consists of scrambling eggs, if that even counts.  But I'm coming around.  Living with a guy who likes to cook may be partially responsible.  Living with a guy who likes Hamburger Helper may also be partially responsible because, well, sometimes it grosses me out.  So when I have to take matters into my own hands and volunteer to make dinner, it surprises me that I like it a little bit.  Once I find a yummy recipe and get started, it turns into fun.

Tonight it's my turn to make dinner.  Boymate (My boyfriend, my roommate.  See what I did there?) has cooked for us the last two nights.  Last night he grilled out and Monday he made fajitas (not to be confused with fajadas).  Definitely my turn.  Please tell me, dear readers, what on earth should I make?

I would say my difficulty level can be at the beginner-intermediate level.  I'm up for a challenge.  I mean, I have officially used apple cider vinegar in a recipe, successfully poached an egg, and am getting pretty fast at chopping vegetables.  Plus I have a really great apron.

Please send some recipes my way!!  It overwhelms me when I start googling things and the possibilities are endless.  Merci Beaucoup.
