Music, So Good for the Soul
I got to see Arcade Fire with The National last night at a beautiful outdoor venue on a chilly Spring night. I was excited about the show beforehand, but I had no idea what an amazing time it would be. The National played my two very favorite songs of theirs, one being the one below. I get chills.
I suppose most of the hype was for Arcade Fire, and while I was a semi-fan before the show, I was blown away with their performance. I didn't intend to stay the entire time, but sure enough, at the end of the encore I was still there, wanting more. If I could have just a fraction of the energy that encompassed me at the show last night, all would be right in the world.

Obviously these videos are not from last night's show, but you get the idea. If you have the opportunity to see them in your city, do it. It's good for the soul.

Listening
I have this song on repeat today.
So easy to tap my foot to while getting some work done
and daydreaming about a sunshiney place such as Los Angeles.
Thank you, The Decemberists.

Take A Listen.
I found this song the other day when I tried to google Bella's Lullaby (sorry about the Twilight reference). I hadn't seen the movie yet, but just finished the book, and was curious to see what the lullaby sounds like. Turns out this video isn't the actual lullaby, but there seem to be many many people who made videos on Youtube with Twilight clips accompanying the song. It's such a lovely tune, and I am actually glad it is not from the movie, so I can have it played in my wedding someday.

To Chicago
I am off to Chicago for the weekend, so I figure a little Sufjan is appropriate.
I am so ready to be on that plane right now.

J'ai Deux Amours
Isn't this song oh-so-pretty?
I have never been to Paris, but this makes me miss it.

Take a Listen.
I heard this song on the way to work this morning and think it is so lovely.
This one has permission to be stuck in my head all day.

Listen.
This song is so sweet & the video someone made to go with it is equally so.
It's simple and warms my heart.

Weezer, Not Bad.
I wouldn't say I am a diehard Weezer fan, but I can usually tap my foot to the beat of their songs, recognize Rivers Cuomo's voice on the radio, and sing along to at least part of the lyrics. Their songs aren't groundbreaking or lifechanging, but they're fun.
So it's no surprise that I find their recent single, (If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To, to be a bit comical in its simplicity and youthful honesty. It makes me smile a bit whenever I hear it.
Some lyrics:
It's simple, honest, non-emo, and kind of an adorable little song. I mean, if you really like someone you eat meatloaf for them. Who cares if an 18 year old could have written it? He didn't. It's catchy. And it's sweet. Case closed.

Some lyrics:
The rest of the summer was the best we ever had
We watched Titanic,
and it didn’t make us sad
and it didn’t make us sad
I took you to Best Buy
you took me home to meet your Mom and Dad
you took me home to meet your Mom and Dad
Your Mom cooked meatloaf
even though I don’t eat meat
even though I don’t eat meat
I dug you so much,
I took some for the team
I took some for the team
Your dad was silent, his eyes were fixed on what was on TV
Then the conversation stopped, and
I looked down at the ring
I looked down at the ring
Your folks were next to you
and you were right there next to me
and you were right there next to me
Then I said go!
If you’re wondering if I want you, (I want you to)
I want you to (I want you to)
I want you to (I want you to)
So make a move, (Make a move) ‘cos I ain’t got all night
So much pain may come our way
There may come a day when we have nothing left to say
When the conversation stops,
and we’re facing our defeat
and we’re facing our defeat
I’ll be next to you and
you’ll be right there next to me

Same Words, Different Songs
These two versions of the song, Heartbeats, are so opposite.
One is precious; one is playful. I like.

Take a Listen
Not only is the song enjoyable, but the dancing is pretty neat too. Solid song and video.
