Out here in New England, things are a wee bit different than they are back home in the marvelous midwest. One such example is that there are no polo matches where I come from. I had the opportunity to attend one a few weekends ago and what an experience it was. The match was USA vs. Ireland. The announcer had a classic British accent. The BYOB drink of choice was red wine (complete with stemware). And the people were dressed exactly as one might expect. The thought crossed my mind that perhaps the entire day was secretly a [Polo] Ralph Lauren photo shoot.

I Would Rather Eat Dirt
Growing up, my absolute favorite dessert was dirt cake. It was usually my treat of choice for birthday parties. Since I didn't make it home for my birthday this year, I decided to bring some into work. No one at the office had ever had it, and it was beyond a hit!! Definitely a perfect dessert for summer. It's easy, fun, and most importantly deliciosa! Here is the recipe I use (there are several variations), along with a pic of how mine turned out. You can also add gummy worms and fake flowers to make it even more delightful. Enjoy!
DIRT/OREO CAKE
14 oz. pkg. Oreo cookies
Crush 2/3 Oreos, put in bottom of 9 x 13 pan.
Mix Cool Whip, cream cheese and powdered sugar in a bowl. Mix pudding and 3 cups milk in another bowl. Pour into Cool Whip mixture and fold together well. Pour over cookies. Crush rest of cookies and put on top. Refrigerate and enjoy.

My New Specs
I had quite a successful shopping experience a few nights ago. Along with a red 1970's suitcase, a coffee table book, and a classic pewter dress, I stumbled upon these glasses for just $.99. They're absolutely hideous, and therefore amazing. As you can see, I have already gotten my money's worth.
Oh, and in this case, "specs" stands for spectaculars . Clearly.

rain rain rain rain
It is still raining here in the northeast. Ridiculous, to say the least. Today is a good rainy day though because its not just raining, its pouring. Thunder is rolling. Lightning is flashing. And I should be at home watching movies/drinking tea. Blast--I'm in my cubicle instead. So, I will spend the day wishing it were me in this photo.

color combos
I am a big fan of using color palettes to create an outfit, looking at the overall image of all pieces together. On that note, I have put together some of my favorite color combinations, using the brilliant site polyvore.
And in honor of the 4th of July weekend, this one must be included as well:
